Author Matthew Isaac Sobin documents the future of our solar system and humanity’s legacy through the eyes of The Last Machine.
The artificial intelligence known as Jonathan was created to outlive the solar system and extend the legacy of humanity beyond the inevitable expansion of our sun. He narrates a tale both proud and sad as he tells of his travels on Earth, and his journey as he outlives all of humanity.
I listened to the audiobook version of The Last Machine, and I appreciated the depth and care in the writing of this novella. It’s short, but it’s engaging and thoughtful, leaving the listener (or reader) with many deep questions at the end. Highly recommended for fans of sci-fi and deep thoughts about humanity’s legacy in an infinite cosmos.
