#Inkshares Preview #24 – Feyside by Peter Birdsall (@drgahnzo)

In Feyside by Peter Birdsall, a young smith wants nothing more than to pursue his trade and the love of an adventurous highborn girl.

feyside

Beidon Forge-boy loves his apprenticeship and wishes for a life with his childhood companion Emlie Hubbleton. But a long-lost portal between worlds opens, and Emlie doesn’t hesitate to follow a trickster named Foxglove into the magical world of Feyside. The story splits into two narratives – one that follows Emlie in a fantastic realm of magic, and one that stays with Beidon in his world of industry. Their paths eventually converge at the Faery Courts, where royal intrigue threatens to shatter worlds.

I like the detailed narrative of the preview, and I really appreciate the contrast between fantasy and steampunk worlds. I can’t wait to read the final book! Feyside can be pre-ordered at Inkshares now!

#Inkshares Preview #23 – Louisiana Blood by Mike Donald

An alternate history based on the idea that Jack the Ripper never existed, Louisiana Blood by Mike Donald has a detective chasing the true story.

louisiana_blood_-_mark_v_-_final

Chandler Travis is a detective for the New Scotland Yard who follows a long family tradition to learn the true identity of Jack the Ripper. He learns that a century-old coach has been found in a swamp in Louisiana – and it contains five female corpses and a letter from one of the prime suspects in the Jack the Ripper murders. Travis flies to Louisiana, where he partners with Sheriff Duke Lanoix. The two must uncover the truth before the local governor shuts down their investigation.

I love the complexity just in the setup, and the idea that a conspiracy behind Jack the Ripper stretches across the ocean. Reviewers found the narrative thrilling and compelling, and I really enjoyed the preview chapters. Louisiana Blood can be pre-ordered at Inkshares now!
